Greek island completely quarantined

The Greek authorities have decided to introduce a quarantine on the island of Poros, one of the Saronic Islands, located off the coast of the Peloponnese peninsula.

The reason for the introduction of restrictive measures was the identification of more than thirty positive cases of Covid-19 among local residents. The introduced quarantine will be valid until at least August 17. As part of the restrictive measures introduced, shops, restaurants and service businesses were ordered to be closed at night.

In addition, entertainment, cultural, religious and other events with the simultaneous presence of more than nine people are temporarily prohibited.

For the period of quarantine in cafes and restaurants, restrictions are set: no more than 4 people at one table, or no more than 6 if close friends or family members gather.

In all premises, with the exception of residential buildings and hotel rooms, a mandatory mask regime is introduced. The authorities do not rule out checking compliance with the established restrictions and recommendations in the face of the difficult epidemiological situation on the island. It was announced that a fine of 150 euros will be imposed for violation of the mask regime. A decision on the possible lifting of quarantine measures will be made after August 17.
